Ellie’s Blush

Ellie and I started this quilt back in January of 2011.  We pieced, quilted and sewed the binding on the front.  The only thing left was to hand stitch the binding to the back of the quilt. But the quilt stayed nicely folded for years, literally.  She doesn’t even remember this quilt.  Sniff. With the […]

You Are My Sunshine

Yay!  I have a new nephew!  Just the excuse I needed to start quilting again.  I love the combination of the yellows and grays…it’s like sunshine on a cloudy day (you know how the song goes–You are my sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray….). Baby quilts are so fun to make, since […]

Summer Breezes

I designed this quilt a long time ago while traveling for my kids’ swim meet.  In fact, I came across the original design sketches that were on an Embassy Suites notepad.  So it’s fitting that I’m donating this quilt to our swim team’s silent auction. I love the oranges and aquas, and there just might […]

Urban Blooms: Done

I always love when I get to hand deliver a new quilt to its new owner.  I love to see their reactions, and I do believe B loved it. The prewash measurement: 53.5 x 62.5. The postwash measurement: 52 x 59.5. Love me a striped binding!

Urban Blooms: Pin Basted

A few days ago I finished sewing the Urban Blooms quilt top together.  The Lemon Squares quilt pattern yields blocks about 10 inches, but then the directions call to trim the blocks down to 9.5 inches.  I’m so glad I didn’t forgo that step, because piecing the top together was so easy with all those […]

Urban Blooms

It’s been far too long since I sat behind my sewing machine and created., far too long since I’ve started a quilt, and far too long since I’ve finished a quilt. Sewing and quilting is cathartic and peaceful.  I love the creative process and the accomplishment. And so we start a new year and 2012 […]

Lavendar Fields Baby Quilt

My cousin asked me to make a baby quilt for one of her friends, and since I love making baby quilts (well, all quilts really, but I especially love baby quilts), I jumped at the opportunity.  It’s the same pattern I used for Life’s a Hoot, but I altered the dimensions a bit. I was […]

Productive Quilting Day

Yesterday was a very productive day for quilting.  I pin basted the Lavender Fields quilt top, quilted it, and sewed the binding to the front of the quilt.  Now I just need to hand sew the binding to the back.

Lavender Fields?

I’m making a baby quilt for my cousin’s friend’s baby.  The colors are purples, greens, and browns, and these are the fabrics I came up with. I’m having a heck of a time coming up with a name for this quilt.  Sometimes names can be so hard!!!  So far I’ve come up with Lavender Fields.  […]

Ethan’s Quilt: Make Life

Here is Ethan’s quilt.  He and I started this quilt back in January during snow days.  4 months is a long time from start to finish for a 7 year old (I actually finished the binding on April 2, which is Ethan’s birthday, but I didn’t label and wash it until this weekend), so he […]
