You Are My Sunshine

Yay!  I have a new nephew! :)  Just the excuse I needed to start quilting again.  I love the combination of the yellows and grays…it’s like sunshine on a cloudy day (you know how the song goes–You are my sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray….).

Baby quilts are so fun to make, since the whole quilt comes together relatively quickly.  I just love how it turned out!

I used the Snapshot pattern from Happy Hour by Atkins Design.  I love this pattern (I used it for Caterpillar’s Meadow).

I hope my nephew, Ben, loves his new quilt!

Post wash measurement: 34 x 42.

Bowl of Cherries: Done

I finally finished quilting and binding the Bowl o f Cherries quilt.  I really do like the way this quilt came out, and I sure hope my Aunt Ann likes it.

Instead of using a separate label, I decided to simply write on the back of the quilt.  I’m really liking this idea….it’s simple, it’s easy, and it’s permanent.

Rocqua: Labeled

Sometimes the hardest part of finishing a project is getting started with the finishing touches.  That’s where I’ve been with the Rocqua Rythm quilt.  It was waiting patiently for me to sew the binding.  I determined that yesterday was going to be the day that I got started.

Much to my surprise I started and finished all within 4 hours!  I must be getting faster at hand sewing, because at a 65″ square it surely isn’t a small quilt.

Anyway, this morning I put the label on, and as I type this it is getting washed.  Not sure if I’ll have pictures up today, because the light is bad—it’s been pouring for the last 9 hours and I think it’s supposed to rain all day.  So until I get some photos up, I hope this tides you over.

Do You Label?

I haven’t labeled any quilts yet.  I know you are supposed to, but honestly it seems like so much work.  But then I found these awesome custom labels from Sweet Water, and thought I’d give them a try.  I love them!!!  So easy to design and use.  They are iron-ons, and after you iron them on, you  simply stitch around the edges.  I chose the label that gave me the space opportunity to write something in, and it turned out great.

I will definitely be using these on ALL of my quilts!
